UPCOMING EVENTS: MISSION ROAD CONGREGATION

SEPTEMBER BOOK CLUB DISCUSSION THIS WEEK

The All Good Books discussion group will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at 7:00 PM at the Community of Christ (7842 Mission Road, Prairie Village, KS) in the Church Library. The book we will discuss is "We Are Called to Rise" by Laura McBride.

CHILI SUPPER DATES SET

The Annual Chili Road Cook-Off and Supper has been scheduled for Sunday evening, October 25, 2015 starting at 5:00 PM. Please mark your calendar! Chili Cook volunteers are still needed.

SAINTS’ CHORALE INVITATION TO JOIN!

If you like to sing and want to share your talent, come join the Saints’ Chorale, a group of dedicated, loyal, and caring people. New members are welcome and we hope to see all members from last year return for the 2015/2016 season. If you have friends that like to sing and are not members of our church and would like to join a choir, please invite them to join our choir. The new season has begun but you are welcome to join in. Rehearsals are every Wednesday evening from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m. We provide a musical presentation every second Sunday.

ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS SCHEDULE

The Adult Sunday School class is studying Mark Scherer’s "The Journey of a People: The Era of Reorganization, 1844 to 1946." This coming Sunday, the class will discuss Chapter 19 (“Continuity of Church Reform”). Jonathan Bacon will lead the class discussion.

COMING IN OCTOBER

The Adult Sunday School class voted overwhelmingly to study The Secret Message of Jesus: Uncovering the Truth that Could Change Everything by Brian D. McLaren. In the book, McLaren invites the reader to discover afresh the transforming message of Jesus – an open invitation to radical change, an enlightening revelation that exposes shame and ignites hope, an epic story that is good news for everyone, whatever their gender, race, class, politics, or religion.

Copies of the book will be available starting Sunday, September 27 and the class will start on Sunday, October 18, 2015. The cost will be $15.50 for the paperback (which includes taxes); a savings over the retail price of $15.99. If you want a copy, contact Jonathan Bacon.
