SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE BEGINS
The start of school is not as far away as you might think. Every year many students go to the first day of class without the supplies they need to be successful in the coming school year. Now’s the time you can help by buying and bringing supplies to help students succeed.
There’s a table in the Narthex where you can deposit your contribution of school supplies. Further, there’s a handout with typical supplies for grades Kindergarten through fifth grade.
Even without the list, we can assure you the following items are in great demand for elementary school students: boxes of Kleenex, boxes of #2 pencils (24 count), boxes of crayons (24 count), Clorox wipes, bottles of hand sanitizer, black dry erasers, composition notebooks, pink erasers, small ear buds, pencil bags, quart zip lock bags, package of glue sticks, pages of index cards, children’s scissors, packages of multicolor construction paper and more!
Help a child with the supplies they need for school success!
NEW ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS TOPIC
Based on the vote last Sunday by the adult Sunday School class, the adults will begin reading and discussing Mark Scherer’s The Journey of a People: The Era of Worldwide Community (Volume 3) on Sunday, August 7, 2016.
The 685-page book (20 chapters) recounts the church and its journey from 1946-2015. It focuses on the church’s evolution from Latter Day Saint identity to worldwide community. The third and final volume in this popular series by Mark A. Scherer gives readers explanations, stories, anecdotes, and illustrations. In addition pictures, maps, and illustrations add another dimension to understanding this period of history.
The book costs $34.95 plus tax and to save shipping ($9) per book, Jonathan Bacon will pickup copies but you’ll need to let him know you want a copy no later than this coming Sunday, July 24, 2016. That will enable us to get the books handed out on Sunday, July 31; the week before the class starts.

A FEW SEATS REMAIN FOR CAMP MITIOG FUNDRAISER
Get your tickets (contact Kennetha, Caryn or Marge) for the Saturday, July 30, 2016 CAMP MITIOG Fundraiser at Mission Road. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to have Camps for Kids match funds collected for MITIOG. Our congregation will host a Show and Share Dinner on the 30th. You can buy a seat at the table or a complete table space ($100 for 8 people; only one remains) If you buy an entire table you can then decorate it with a theme of your choice. If you share a table with others, all those sponsoring the table will work together to decorate it.
The evening will also include a silent auction in conjunction with the meal including such items as jewelry, Royals tickets, a pie, a handbag, an ostrich egg, a bag pipe performance, AMC movie passes, brand new books (for children and adults) and a hand-crafted ceramic vase. Music CDs (both contemporary Christian music and Pop music) and DVDs will also be for sale ($1 each for the CDs).
Members of the CAMP MITIOG board will present the entertainment and an evening of information. The cost for each chair space will be $12.50. Checks need to be in by July 24th to assure your donation is matched. Remember it is a charitable donation and Camp for Kids will match the funds you donate when you purchase a seat or table. Please purchase your place at a table early and contact Karen, Caryn or Marge with questions.
MITIOG SILENT AUCTION DONATIONS NEEDED
We are asking for donations for the silent auction at the MITIOG Fundraiser. If you have something you would like to donate, big or small, please contact Kennetha Kuttler as soon as possible. Many thanks!

MISSED LAST SUNDAY’S SERVICE?
Would you like to hear the message from last Sunday or a Sunday service from 3 years ago? Audio recordings of many of the last several years’ worth of worship services are available online at https://goo.gl/wREl03. Note this is a new shortened URL that will take you to a Google Drive with many of the recordings from the past.
Recordings are located in folders corresponding to the year (2015, 2016, and so on).
If you missed a Sunday, this provides you a way to hear the music and the message.
The beginning numbers of each filename indicate the date of the service.
The first 4 digits represent the year; the next two digits indicate the month
And last two digits represent the day of the month.
In most cases, the date is followed by a dash and then the first initial and
last name of the speaker. Enjoy!
NOTE: If you experience problems playing these audio files be sure you’re running the latest version of your browser or try a different browser. In some cases, you may be required to download the audio file before playing it.
Some of the recent audio recordings are listed below:

REGARDING PRAYER REQUESTS
Please know that any member of the congregation can post prayer requests or share information about members and events on the Mission Road Members Only Facebook page. You do not need to send the information for approval to anyone. In fact doing so may slow down the dissemination of your request. Be sure to include the person needing prayers and what situation has occurred (if you wish to share that information). If your post concerns an event or news item, be sure to include the basics in your posting (such as who, what, where and when).
For prayer requests, if you do not have access to Facebook, then please call Paul Bennetts or John Trinkl Sr., our Congregational Pastoral Care Coordinators.
