UPCOMING MISSION ROAD CONGREGATION EVENTS AND PROJECTS
NEXT MEETING OF THE ALL GOOD BOOKS GROUP
The next meeting of the All Good Books discussion group will be this Thursday, April 13, 2017 (Thomas Jefferson’s birthday) at 7 PM in the Church Library. The group will discuss “Two If by Sea” by Jacquelyn Mitchard. Please plan to join us!
GOOD FRIDAY SERVICE
Mark your calendar for the Mission Road Good Friday service on Friday, April 14, 2017 at 7:00 PM. Pastor Karen Birkby will preside and the Saints Chorale will provide an evening service of music. Please join us for an evening of fellowship, music and inspiration!
SATURDAY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR EASTER DECORATIONS
Volunteers are needed on Saturday morning, April 15 to help decorate and setup for Easter morning. If you’re available, please show-up to help starting at 9:30 AM on Saturday, April 15, 2017. No excuses, your taxes should be finished!
EASTER SUNDAY BREAKFAST POTLUCK AND EASTER EGG HUNT!
Plan now to join your friends at Mission Road for an Easter morning potluck starting at 8:45 AM. Bring your favorite breakfast dish or casserole. If you have any questions, contact Marge Trinkl.
There will also be an Easter Egg Hunt, coordinated by Alisha Morse, for all the children.
There will be no adult class that morning; instead we’ll just enjoy good food and conversation in the Fellowship Hall.
DO WE STILL NEED A PRINT NEWSLETTER?
Question: With two Facebook pages (one public and one open just to members of the congregation), a website (www.mission-road.org) and a weekly email newsletter to everyone with an email address, does the congregation still need a printed/mailed quarterly newsletter?
As you all know Norman Bernauer was the editor of the quarterly newsletter that gets mailed out to the Mission Road membership. With Norman’s passing we have had no one volunteer to fill this role.
So we (the Pastors) need to hear from you. Let us know if you have an interest in volunteering or let us know if you feel there is/isn’t a need to continue the mailed, printed newsletter.
ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS DISCUSSES CHURCH HISTORY
There will be no Adult Sunday School on Easter Sunday, instead join us for the Easter Breakfast Potluck. On April 23, the Adult class will continue discussion of Chapter 17 and 18 in Mark Scherer’s "The Journey of a People”, Volume 3.
THANK YOU AND A COUPLE OF ITEMS STILL NEEDED!
The family of Andrew Smith (Bernice Smith’s eldest son) would like to thank all those in the congregation who donated clothes and toys for the family to help in their move to this area.
There’s still a need for diapers (size 6 pullups) and wipes plus a small bed for 3-year-old daughter Zendaya. If you can help, please contact Bernice at 913-944-1591.
CAN YOU SPARE A CAN OR BOX OF FOOD?
Mission Road Congregation donated 70 lbs. of food to the Center in February. Figures for March are not available yet but can you image what we could accomplish in April if every family brought one box or can of food each Sunday? When you’re shopping this week, remember the Central Avenue Center of Hope food pantry that served 206 households last year!

PLEASE REMEMBER: WORSHIP PLANNERS AND PRESIDERS
Remember that the order of worship for the Sunday Bulletin plus announcements are due at least one week prior to the Sunday you are presiding. This deadline is to give pianist, musicians, speakers, and really everyone a minimum amount of time to properly prepare for the service. It is important that these services be sent to all participants the Sunday prior to the Sunday you are planning. The service should also be sent to Clint, for formatting and typing at the same time at the church email address: mrcoc

MISSED LAST SUNDAY’S SERVICE?
Would you like to hear the message from last Sunday or a Sunday service from 3 years ago? Audio recordings of many of the last several years’ worth of worship services are available online at https://goo.gl/wREl03. Note this is a new shortened URL that will take you to a Google Drive with many of the recordings from the past.
Recordings are located in folders corresponding to the year (2015, 2016, and so on).
If you missed a Sunday, this provides you a way to hear the music and the message.
The beginning numbers of each filename indicate the date of the service.
The first 4 digits represent the year; the next two digits indicate the month and last two digits represent the day of the month.
In most cases, the date is followed by a dash and then the first initial and last name of the speaker. Enjoy!
NOTE: If you experience problems playing these audio files be sure you’re running the latest version of your browser or try a different browser. In some cases, you may be required to download the audio file before playing it.
The following list includes some recent audio recordings:
9 April 2017 message by Kennetha Kuttler, filename 20170409-KKuttler.mp3
2 April 2017 message by Larry Birkby, filename 20170402-LBirkby.mp3
26 March 2017 message by Jerry Rushfelt, filename 20170326-GRushfelt.mp3

CONCERNING PRAYER REQUESTS
Please know that any member of the congregation can post prayer requests or share information about members and events on the Mission Road Members Only Facebook page. You do not need to send the information for approval to anyone. In fact doing so may slow down the dissemination of your request. Be sure to include the person needing prayers and what situation has occurred (if you wish to share that information). If your post concerns an event or news item, be sure to include the basics in your posting (such as who, what, where and when).
For prayer requests, if you do not have access to Facebook, then please call Paul Bennetts or John Trinkl Sr., our Congregational Pastoral Care Coordinators.
