SEE PRESIDENT VEAZEY’S VIDEO MESSAGE AT CHURCH

The telecast of President Steve Veazey’s message on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 will be shown in the Church Library live at 7:30 PM.

According to the World Church, “There is an urgent need for us to work together to address significant financial challenges that will impact the future of the church. Specific steps to meet the church’s financial needs will be announced.” Come and join your fellow members in watching this important announcement.

THIS SATURDAY: ICE CREAM SOCIAL

Come join us for the annual Ice Cream Social on Saturday, September 23, 2017 starting at 6 PM. It’s a “Potluck” Ice Cream Social, so bring cookies, pie or ice cream or whatever you have to share.

Face painting will be provided by Avis Garrett-Baptist, so bring the kids for a fun evening.

ADULT CLASS ON LETTERS OF THE APOSTLE PAUL CONTINUES

This week the class will discuss Chapter 4 of the Letter to the Philippians as well as continue delving into Chapter 5 (“Paul’s letters”) of Tatha Wiley’s book “Encountering Paul.” Also read the Letter to Philemon (in most Bibles it is only a page long). We’ll continue to focus on pages 74-100 in the Wiley book (including the discussion of Philemon). Jane Landrum will lead the discussion of the last chapter in Philippians and Paul Bennetts will lead the remainder of the class discussion. Make it a habit; bring your Bible (any version).

A list of questions for Chapter 5 of the Wiley book was passed recently in class. Use the list as a guide for your reading. We’ll discuss the questions selected by the class each Sunday.

NEXT BOOK CLUB MEETING ON OCTOBER 19

The All Good Books discussion group will meet on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 7:00 PM to discuss the novel “The Westing Game” by Ellen Raskin. This meeting is a week later than normal.

We’ll meet in the Church Library. The book by Raskin is a young adult book that many school students read in class. You have a month to read the book and we hope you’ll come and join in the discussion! Everyone, all ages are welcome.

THANK YOU!

Many thanks to all the folks who support and attended Saturday night’s Storytellers Event with Barbara Walden, Art Smith, Laura Horning, and Mark Scherer.

MISSED LAST SUNDAY’S SERVICE?

Would you like to hear the message from last Sunday or a Sunday service from 3 years ago? Audio recordings of many of the last several years’ worth of worship services are available online at https://goo.gl/wREl03. Note this is a new shortened URL that will take you to a Google Drive with many of the recordings from the past.

Recordings are located in folders corresponding to the year (2015, 2016, and so on). If you missed a Sunday, this provides you a way to hear the music and the message.

The beginning numbers of each filename indicate the date of the service.

The first 4 digits represent the year; the next two digits indicate the month and last two digits represent the day of the month.

In most cases, the date is followed by a dash and then the first initial and last name of the speaker. Enjoy!

NOTE: If you experience problems playing these audio files be sure you’re running the latest version of your browser or try a different browser. In some cases, you may be required to download the audio file before playing it.

CONCERNING PRAYER REQUESTS

Please know that any member of the congregation can post prayer requests or share information about members and events on the Mission Road Members Only Facebook page. You do not need to send the information for approval to anyone. In fact doing so may slow down the dissemination of your request. Be sure to include the person needing prayers and what situation has occurred (if you wish to share that information). If your post concerns an event or news item, be sure to include the basics in your posting (such as who, what, where and when).

For prayer requests, if you do not have access to Facebook, then please call Paul Bennetts or John Trinkl Sr., our Congregational Pastoral Care Coordinators.
