ADULT CLASS ON LETTERS OF THE APOSTLE PAUL CONTINUES

Next Sunday, the adult class will discuss Chapters 1-2 of First Corinthians. Be sure to read pages 100-105 in the Wiley book (the discussion of First and Second Corinthians). Dennis Wood will lead the discussion. Make it a habit; bring your Bible (any version).

NEXT BOOK CLUB MEETING ON OCTOBER 19

The All Good Books discussion group will meet on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 7:00 PM to discuss the novel “The Westing Game” by Ellen Raskin. This meeting is a week later than usual.

We’ll meet in the Church Library. The book by Raskin is a young adult book that many school students read in class. You have a month to read the book and we hope you’ll come and join in the discussion! Everyone, all ages are welcome.

ADULT CLASS STUDIES THE COMMUNITY OF CHRIST

A second adult class meets each Sunday for adults interested in learning about church membership. This class is informational, for anyone wanting to know more about the Community of Christ. The class is held during the regular Sunday School hour (starting at 9:15 AM). All are invited to join the class taught by Ron Millard and Karen Birkby.

PEANUT BUTTER WEEK IS HERE!

October 9 through October 13 (which really means anytime over the next two weeks) is Peanut Butter Week in Prairie Village. This is your chance to lend support to Harvesters in their efforts to lessen some of the hunger of people in the greater Kansas City area (including Johnson and Wyandotte Counties). Please bring your jars of peanut butter to the church anytime before Sunday, October 13. Harvesters food pantry will distribute the peanut butter to social and charitable organizations and agencies serving over 66,000 neighborhoods. Please join in the 33rd annual Prairie Village Peanut Butter Week campaign and help us make this year’s peanut butter week the best ever.

WORLD CHURCH OFFERS ONLINE TEMPLE SCHOOL CLASSES!

Two “Ministry and Priesthood” Temple School classes will be available online for those finding it difficult to attend live events. Each e-learning class lasts eight weeks, during which students proceed together through reading texts, videos, and quizzes. Students may access each week’s class 24 hours a day, six days a week (minus one grading day), providing schedule flexibility.

Open August 26 for registration (space Limited):

• “Introduction to Scripture” (October 7 – December 9) and
• “Ministry of the Disciple” (October 7 – December 9).

Saints Chorale will provide the ministry of music and Kennetha Kuttler will provide the PowerPoint slideshow.

Would you like to hear the message from last Sunday or a Sunday service from 3 years ago? Audio recordings of many of the last several years’ worth of worship services are available online at https://goo.gl/wREl03. Note this is a new shortened URL that will take you to a Google Drive with many of the recordings from the past.

Recordings are located in folders corresponding to the year (2015, 2016, and so on). If you missed a Sunday, this provides you a way to hear the music and the message.

The beginning numbers of each filename indicate the date of the service.

The first 4 digits represent the year; the next two digits indicate the month and last two digits represent the day of the month.

In most cases, the date is followed by a dash and then the first initial and last name of the speaker. Enjoy!

Please know that any member of the congregation can post prayer requests or share information about members and events on the Mission Road Members Only Facebook page. You do not need to send the information for approval to anyone. In fact doing so may slow down the dissemination of your request. Be sure to include the person needing prayers and what situation has occurred (if you wish to share that information). If your post concerns an event or news item, be sure to include the basics in your posting (such as who, what, where and when).

For prayer requests, if you do not have access to Facebook, then please call Paul Bennetts or John Trinkl Sr., our Congregational Pastoral Care Coordinators.
