THANK YOU!

Many thanks to all those who have contributed to the 2018 Historic Caravan. We’ve reached our fundraising goal.

Remember to join us for the closing worship service on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 4 PM at the Mission Road Community of Christ. Campers will share testimonies and stories from their caravan journey. We hope you’ll join us!

You’re also invited to pray for all those on the Historic Caravan. Campers leave Mission Road on June 7 and return on June 16th.

ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL: THE STORY OF CHRISTIANITY

The Adult Sunday School Class is now studying “The Story of Christianity: The Early Church to the Dawn of the Reformation, Volume 1” by Justo Gonzalez.

Next Sunday we’ll cover Chapter 2 “The Fullness of Time; Paul Bennetts will lead the discussion.

All books ordered to date have been claimed If you want a copy of the Gonzales text, call or email Jonathan Bacon as soon as possible because it takes 10-14 days to receive a copy. The cost is $21 per copy of the paperback book. Once you receive a copy (in class), just add the $21 to your offering envelop with a notation that the amount covers your copy of the class book.

ELEVATOR CONSTRUCTION

After approval by the congregation, the Pastorate contacted the World Church to arrange for a letter (for the contractors) guaranteeing that the full amount for the construction will be available from the Congregation’s investment (AIP) account with the World Church. The Bishopric has responded positively to the withdrawal of funds to fully fund the elevator project! The Office of General Counsel and Risk Management are finalizing the contract documents for the project. A City building permit has been issued and construction will begin soon.

As construction work begins to move forward on the elevator project be aware of your surroundings as you move throughout the building.

ADULT INFORMATION CLASS ABOUT THE COMMUNITY OF CHRIST

This new class continues each Sunday for adults interested in learning about church membership this class is informational, if class members want baptism or if class members simply want to know more about Community of Christ. Baptism is not necessarily an outcome of class attendance. The class will be held during the regular Sunday School hour (starting at 9:15 AM). Please join the class in the Chapel, taught by Karen Birkby and Ron Millard, if interested.

MISSED LAST SUNDAY’S SERVICE?

Would you like to hear the message from last Sunday or a Sunday service from 3 years ago? Audio recordings of many of the last several years’ worth of worship services are available online at https://goo.gl/wREl03. Note this is a new shortened URL that will take you to a Google Drive with many of the recordings from the past.

Recordings are located in folders corresponding to the year (2015, 2016, and so on). If you missed a Sunday, this provides you a way to hear the music and the message.

The beginning numbers of each filename indicate the date of the service.

The first 4 digits represent the year; the next two digits indicate the month and last two digits represent the day of the month.

In most cases, the date is followed by a dash and then the first initial and last name of the speaker. Enjoy!

NOTE: If you experience problems playing these audio files be sure you’re running the latest version of your browser or try a different browser. In some cases, you may be required to download the audio file before playing it.

The following list includes some recent audio recordings:

20 May 2018 message by Greg Mann, filename 20180520-GMann.mp3

13 May 2018 message by David Byrn, filename 0180513-DByrn.mp3

6 May 2018 message by Jane Landrum, filename 20180506-JLandrum.mp3

6 May 2018 Business meeting, filename 20180506-Business.Meeting.mp3

CONCERNING PRAYER REQUESTS

Please know that any member of the congregation can post prayer requests or share information about members and events on the Mission Road Members Only Facebook page. You do not need to send the information for approval to anyone. In fact doing so may slow down the dissemination of your request. Be sure to include the person needing prayers and what situation has occurred (if you wish to share that information). If your post concerns an event or news item, be sure to include the basics in your posting (such as who, what, where and when).

For prayer requests, if you do not have access to Facebook, then please call Paul Bennetts our Congregational Pastoral Care Coordinator.
