NEWS FROM HONDURAS

From Paula Rummel, HMA International Committee Chair

The team had a very successful trip to Honduras in August. Physicians Mike Duke and Erin McGongile were assisted in interpretation by Linda Drown, Esdras Hernandez, and Michael Macias. Gary Rummel helped with logistics and transportation. They were given VIP treatment at the San Pedro Sula airport when they arrived. They were greeted by Debora Mejia as they came off the plane, escorted thru immigration and customs, and had their photo taken with a sign that read "Serving Honduras".

The next 3 days the team held village clinics organized by Saira. Seventy patients were seen in El Zapotal, 88 patients in San Antonio, and 55 patients in Las Crucites. HMA’s Auxiliary nursing scholarship student, Karen Tinoco, helped check in the patients and obtained vital signs. The group was pleased to meet the student and work with her. Saira was again exceptional in her knowledge of the patients in these villages and often recited their medical history from memory.

Gary and Mike were able to inspect the truck that was purchased in January from the fundraising campaign last year. They were pleased with the truck but noted that new tires need to be purchased due to the poor road conditions.

Linda Drown will be returning to Honduras in November as interpreter for me as HMA renews Saira’s employment contract for another year. Apostle Carlos Mejia and Mission Center President Gonzalo Mejia have been very pleased with Saira’s help at La Buena Fe Campground activities.

If you would like to assist in funding Saira’s work next year in the rural villages in Honduras, please contact myself or Kathleen at the HMA office. She can accept checks or credit card information at HMA 1001 West Walnut Independence, MO 64050 or 816-833-1000 ext. 1262.

Together you, Saira, and HMA are making a real difference in the lives of Honduran families. Thank You!

MISSED LAST SUNDAY’S SERVICE?

Audio recordings of past worship services are available online at https://bit.ly/2MSgZW8. This is a short URL for a Google Drive folder with past recordings.

Recordings are located in folders corresponding to the year (e.g., 2017, 2018). If you missed a Sunday, this provides you a way to hear the music and the message.

Each audio recording begins with the date of the service (20180805 represents August 5, 2018). The date is followed by a dash and the first initial and last name of the speaker.

NOTE: If you experience problems playing these audio files be sure you’re running the latest version of your browser or try a different browser. In some cases, you may be required to download the audio file before playing it.

CONCERNING PRAYER REQUESTS

Please know that any member of the congregation can post prayer requests or share information about members and events on the Mission Road Members Only Facebook page. You do not need to send the information for approval to anyone. In fact, doing so may slow down the dissemination of your request. Be sure to include the person needing prayers and what situation has occurred (if you wish to share that information). If your post concerns an event or news item, be sure to include the basics in your posting (such as who, what, where and when).

For prayer requests, if you do not have access to Facebook, then please call Paul Bennetts our Congregational Pastoral Care Coordinator.
