MISSION ROAD CONGREGATION EVENTS AND PROJECTS

LAST CHANCE: EASTER BOOK REQUEST

The Center for Hope needs donations of books about the true meaning of Easter. New or like-new books should be appropriate for all different ages and focus on the true meaning of Easter. You have one more Sunday (April 14) to bring your donation so we’ll have time to get your book(s) to the Center before Easter. If you have questions, please contact Robin Payne.

ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL TOPIC

The Adult Class will continue to study "The Story of Christianity: The Early Church to the Dawn of the Reformation, Volume 1" by Justo Gonzalez each Sunday.

Next Sunday’s class will discuss Chapter 34 (“In Quest of Reformation”). Dennis Wood will lead the class discussion.

THE NEW ADULT CLASS TEXT IS HERE!

The Adult Sunday School class has voted to continue the study of “The Story of Christianity” with Volume 2 of “The Story of the Christianity: The Reformation to the Present Day” by Justo L. Gonzales.

We have 15 copies on hand. The paperback edition normally costs $26.99 but we were able to obtain 20 new copies from the publisher for $20 each. If you’re interested in a copy, please contact Jonathan Bacon. Funds for the books should be added to your weekly offering with a notation that the additional donation is for the “Adult Class Book.”

REMAINING WORLD CONFERENCE EVENTS

Many worship services will be live webcast. You can find the list and

schedule here: www.cofchrist.org/live-webcast.

To find the complete schedule for the remainder of Conference go to www.cofchrist.org/2019-world-conference and scroll down to click the green “Schedule” button.

NEXT BOOK CLUB MEETING

The All Good Books group will meet on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at 7 PM in the Church Library to discuss "Big Little Lies" by Liane Moriarty.

Discussion questions for the novel will be posted on the book club website at http://allbooksclub.wordpress.com soon.

The schedule of upcoming books for discussion is always available at https://allbooksclub.wordpress.com/meeting-dates-books/.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR: BUSINESS MEETING

A business meeting will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2019, during the Sunday School hour (starting at 9:15) to consider the approval of several priesthood calls. There will be no adult class on that date.

We would like for you as we have, give prayerful consideration to the names presented. On April 28 during the business meeting you will have an opportunity to speak to each or all of the calls.

Pastors Karen and Larry are pleased to announce the following calls:

Pam O’Neal to the office of Teacher

Debbie Rushfelt to the office of Priest

Roxanne Kosmicki to the office of Priest

Caryn Brown to the office of Elder

We ask that you offer your support of these calls and continue to pray for their guidance as you do for each of us as we share the work of the Lord.

A NOTE ABOUT CONTRIBUTIONS

When contributing to Midlands Mission Center (MMC) or its affiliates, please make your check payable to the organization itself and not the camp or fundraiser.

For instance, register/donate to camps – write the check to Midlands Mission Center and note the purpose on the memo line.

If you donate to an affiliate (Central Avenue Center of Hope/CACH,

Chihowa Retreat Center, or Center Place Campgrounds/Doniphan) –

write the check directly to that organization and use the memo line

For example, checks written to “Faithful Fifty” or “Campership Fund” cannot be deposited and will be returned to you because those are not accounts. If you have any questions please contact the MMC office or the MCFO Team.

MISSED LAST SUNDAY’S SERVICE?

Audio recordings of past worship services are available online at https://bit.ly/2MSgZW8. This is a short URL for a Google Drive folder with past recordings.

Recordings are located in folders corresponding to the year (e.g., 2017, 2018). If you missed a Sunday, this provides you a way to hear the music and the message.

Each audio recording begins with the date of the service (20190224 represents February 24, 2019). The date is followed by a dash and the first initial and last name of the speaker.

NOTE: If you experience problems playing these audio files be sure you’re running the latest version of your browser or try a different browser. In some cases, you may be required to download the audio file before playing it.

The following list includes some recent audio recordings:

DO YOU KNOW SOMEONE WITHOUT EMAIL OR FACEBOOK ACCESS?

If you know someone in the congregation that does not have email and does not use Facebook, please let Jonathan Bacon know. We’re trying to be sure everyone in the congregation has access to periodic news updates and information on congregational activities.

FOR FUTURE CHURCH CLOSINGS

In the future, if inclement weather forces the cancellation of church services at Mission Road, we’ll post the closing on our church Facebook page, send a message to the church email list and list the closing on KCTV Channel 5 and KSHB Channel 41.

Be sure to check the TV listings for either "Community of Christ – Mission Road" (KSHB 41) or "Community of Christ – Prairie Village" (KCTV5). The listing will be under one of those two names.

CONCERNING PRAYER REQUESTS

Please know that any member of the congregation can post prayer requests or share information about members and events on the Mission Road Members Only Facebook page. You do not need to send the information for approval to anyone. In fact, doing so may slow down the dissemination of your request. Be sure to include the person needing prayers and what situation has occurred (if you wish to share that information). If your post concerns an event or news item, be sure to include the basics in your posting (such as who, what, where and when).

For prayer requests, if you do not have access to Facebook, then please call Paul Bennetts our Congregational Pastoral Care Coordinator.
