CENTRAL AVENUE CENTER OF HOPE FOOD CONTRIBUTIONS

This Saturday, April 11, 2020, from 10 AM to noon, there will be a large box outside the front entrance of the church for you to drive by and drop off foodstuffs for the Food Pantry. Your contributions are especially important during the current pandemic. Robin Payne will pick up the contributions at Noon and deliver to the Center.

EASTER WORLD CHURCH WORSHIP SERVICE

On Sunday, April 12, 2020, at 2 PM Central Time, the World Church will stream a live Easter worship service. Take a look at https://www.cofchrist.org/live-webcast for details and how to be prepared for watching and listening to the service.

WORK ON CHURCH BUILDING

The stripping and waxing that was postponed from earlier will occur tomorrow (Thursday) and Friday this week. The floors in the Narthex will be stripped and then re-waxed.

The area includes the floors that extend from the main entrance (new recently re-tiled entrance) to the sanctuary, all the way around to include the area outside the office, library, main floor restroom, and stairway to the basement as well as the balcony and upper office.

If you want to practice on the piano or organ you may access the sanctuary from the main entrance on the new tiled floor through the chair and table storage area. Otherwise, please wait until Saturday afternoon. You can still access the Fellowship Hall if you need access to Wi-Fi. Also, the main floor restroom will not be accessible. You may access the basement (by elevator from the Fellowship Hall) and access the library through the kitchen.

These are only temporary inconveniences and probably won’t affect many members. If you have any questions, feel free to call Pastor Larry Birkby.

TIME TO REACH OUT

Many of our members live alone and during this “Stay at Home” period, they might enjoy a call from one of their church friends. Give your friends a call or if they have an iPhone or iPad, Facetime them.

THE SHOW MUST GO ON

Every Friday, you can watch one of Andrew Lloyd Weber’s musicals for free on YouTube. Simply go to “The Show Must Go On” Channel on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdmPjhKMaXNNeCr1FjuMvag). Each week a different musical is available starting at 1:00 PM CST and available for the next 48 hours. The next musical (available Friday, April 10, 2020) is “Jesus Christ Superstar.”

TITHES AND OFFERINGS

Please remember that church expenses continue, even when we’re not meeting in the building. Mary Reichenbach, the Congregation’s Financial Officer has indicated that contributions can be mailed to her house (10223 Briar Dr., Overland Park, KS 66207) or the church 7842 Mission Road, Prairie Village, KS 66208), or you can sign up for eTithing on the World Church website https://www.cofchrist.org/etithing). If you use the eTithing site, select the United States link. Any of these options will enable you to continue your regular contributions.

Per World Church recommendations, all church gatherings are

suspended until at least May 1, 2020.
