DUAL GRADUATION CELEBRATION
We’re planning a drive-by “Congratulations! You Graduated” parade for Adrienne Reine and TJ Libeer, who both are 2020 graduating seniors. We’re asking you to gather in the YMCA parking lot (4200 W 79th St, Prairie Village, KS) between 6:00-6:15 PM on Sunday, March 24, 2020 for parade route instructions. The parade will drive through the church parking lot honking and screaming and then travel to Libeer’s house and do the same thing.

You’re encouraged, if possible, to bring congratulation cards and decorate your car with balloons, a sign or whatever you can. To RSVP or for more information, call or text Karen Birkby (see the church directory for contact information).

ONLINE (ZOOM) MUSIC VIDEO CONCERT
Music soothes, so during this “Stay at Home” time, you’re invited to join us for an hour of music and video. Everyone will be muted until the end of the hour concert and then unmuted for comments and conversation. Drop-in for part or all of this Zoom Music Video Concert featuring Brad Athey, Jan Kraybill, the Online Choir Community of Christ – Europe (with Roxann Kosmicki, Dorothy May, and Ryan Ballantyne), and other virtual choirs.

UPDATED MISSION ROAD CALENDAR
Because of the Kansas Governor’s stay at home order, congregational face to face meetings have been canceled a least through June 7, 2020. The Sunday morning and Wednesday evening Zoom meetings will continue at least through Wednesday, June 10, 2020.

MISSION ROAD CONGREGATION ONLINE MEETINGS
The Mission Road Congregation will offer several meetings in the coming weeks online.

7 PM Monday, May 25, 2020 – Online (Zoom) Music Video Concert.
7 PM Every Wednesday until the Stay at Home quarantine ends – Prayer Circle.

9 AM Every Sunday until the Stay at Home quarantine ends – Sunday Morning Mission Road Worship Online. More information on this Sunday’s worship is below.

THIS SUNDAY’S WORSHIP
Because of the difficulties with Zoom last Sunday (their servers were down), we’ve rescheduled the theme and participants to Sunday, May 24, 2020. The theme is “God Within” and Mary Reichenbach will preside with Jonathan Bacon speaking.

You’re invited to join us online starting at 8:45 AM for conversation and fellowship with the worship activities beginning at 9 AM. After the service, we’ll keep the Zoom session open for folks to fellowship. We hope you can join us.

WORK CONTINUES ON THE CHURCH
When we return to the church building, you’ll notice a number of (still ongoing) changes. All three bathrooms have been upgraded and the floors newly tiled. The main entrance to the Narthex has new tile and the remainder of the hallway floors have been stripped and waxed. The Narthex wall paneling is gone replaced with drywall. The walls have been covered with a fresh coat of new paint. Work continues in the Fellowship Hall with the removal of the old green board and a fresh paint job. Painting of the Fellowship Hall and all the restrooms and the basement hallway will be completed by next week. The Restroom partitions and fixtures will be reinstalled. Plus, the coat rack between the Fellowship Hall and the Library will be relocated. Several additional subtle changes will be made by the time we meet again. We look forward to meeting again soon in a “refreshed” church space.

NO FOOD PANTRY DROP OFF THIS WEEK
Every other week you are encouraged to drop off foodstuffs for the Central Avenue Center of Hope. The next drop-off will be Saturday, May 30, 2020, from 10 AM to noon, there will be a large box outside the front entrance of the church for you leave your donations.

Your contributions are especially important during the current pandemic. Robin Payne will pick up the contributions at Noon then Susan and Merrill Clark will deliver the items to the Center for Hope.

TIME TO REACH OUT
Many of our members live alone and during this “Stay at Home” period, they might enjoy a call from one of their church friends. Give your friends a call or if they have an iPhone or iPad, Facetime them.

DO YOU KNOW SOMEONE WITHOUT EMAIL OR FACEBOOK ACCESS?
If you know someone in the congregation that does not have email and does not use Facebook, please let Jonathan Bacon know. We are trying to be sure everyone in the congregation has access to periodic news updates and information on congregational activities.

CONCERNING PRAYER REQUESTS
Please know that any member of the congregation can post prayer requests or share information about members and events on the Mission Road Members Only Facebook page. You do not need to send the information for approval to anyone. In fact, doing so may slow down the dissemination of your request. Be sure to include the person needing prayers and what situation has occurred (if you wish to share that information). If your post concerns an event or news item, be sure to include the basics in your posting (such as who, what, where and when).

For prayer requests, if you do not have access to Facebook, then please call Paul Bennetts our Congregational Pastoral Care Coordinator.
