ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS SCHEDULE

During the Adult Sunday School class yesterday we discussed the Methodist Conversion process, the First Vision and the Book of Mormon. Next Sunday, November 24, we’ll focus on mysticism and the translation process of the Book of Mormon. Specifically we’ll talk about the timeline of the translation process, plus the use of the Urim and Thummim vs. a seer stone in the translation of the Book of Mormon. Upcoming discussions will focus on 19th Century and contemporary issues addressed by the Book of Mormon. Bring your Book of Mormon and continue reading the Book of Mosiah (all chapters).

If you want more information on yesterday’s discussion of the Methodist Conversion Form, Joseph Smith’s First Vision and parallels in the Book of Mormon, check out Chapter 13 of “The Book of Mormon’s Witness to Its First Readers” by Dale Luffman as well as pages 62-62 (Chapter Four) of “The Journey of a People” by Church Historian Mark A. Scherer.

Readings for the next few Sundays include Chapter 6 of “Millions Call It Scripture: The Book of Mormon in the 21st Century” by Alan Tyree; Chapter VI of the Luffman book and Chapters 5-6 of the Scherer text.Image
