NEW ADULT CLASS CONTINUES
The Adult Sunday School class has begun studying The Secret Message of Jesus: Uncovering the Truth that Could Change Everything by Brian D. McLaren each Sunday during the 9:30-10:15 AM Sunday school class hour. In class we’ll take a hard look at the message of Jesus; through new eyes and in-depth discussion. This is a view of Jesus’ message like you’ve rarely heard before…not the Jesus who embraces religion, but the Jesus who threw the money-changers out of the Temple. Not the exclusive Jesus of many religions, but the Jesus who preferred beggars, prostitutes and the outcast to the rabbis, politicians and religious leaders of his day. We’ll study and discuss the radical, revolutionary Jesus who exposes shame, and ignites hope. It’s an epic story of good news for everyone, whatever their gender, race, class, politics, or religion.
Jonathan Bacon, Paul Bennetts, Jane Landrum, Jennifer Libeer, and Dennis Wood will team-teach the class. Copies of the book can be ordered through Barnes and Nobel or Amazon.com. It is available in paperback or from Amazon.com for the Kindle.
The tentative schedule for the month of November includes:
Sunday, November 1, 2015: Finish Chapter 1 (“Troubling Questions about Jesus“) and cover Chapter 2 (“The Political Message of Jesus”) – class discussion led by Paul Bennetts.
Sunday, November 8, 2015: Chapter 3 (“The Jewish Message of Jesus”) – class discussion led by Jane Landrum.
Sunday, November 15, 2015: Chapter 4 (“The Revolutionary Message of Jesus”) – class discussion led by Jennifer Libeer.
Sunday, November 22, 2015: Chapter 5 (“The Hidden Message of Jesus”) – class discussion led by Dennis Wood.
Sunday, November 29, 2015: Chapter 6 (“The Medium of the Message”) – class discussion led by Jane Landrum.

MISSION ROAD CHILI SUPPER, ANOTHER GREAT SUCCESS !!!
Adrienne Reine won First Prize again this year in the Chili cook off. Adrienne received the most votes of over the 15+ entrants with crock pots full of chili. There were several Karaoke singers to entertain the crowd of chili tasters. A fun time was had by everyone. We raised some nice donations for our charities. Thank you to all the helping hands that made it another great success.
