BOOK CLUB MEETS TOMORROW NIGHT
Twenty-four possible discussion questions for Ellen Rankin’s “The Westing Game” have just been posted on the All Good Books website at https://goo.gl/8Xz1xd
Printed copies of the questions will be available at the meeting tomorrow evening (7 PM, October 19, 2017) in the Church Library.
If you borrowed a copy of the book from Karen Birkby, be sure to bring it with you tomorrow.
Also, today is the last chance to complete the poll about books to add to the All Good Books calendar for discussion. The poll is available at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BLP2FQD
Join us for the discussion of this mystery tomorrow!
SPECIAL OFFERING: THIS SUNDAY
During Sunday’s service (October 22), we will collect a special offering of canned goods and non-perishable food items for the Central Avenue Center of Hope. Please bring food items to add to your regular Disciples Generous Response offering. During the offering, these items will be brought to baskets on the rostrum. You’re also invited to bring a winter coat, or gently use clothing items to donate to the Center of Hope.
MIDLANDS USA MISSION CENTER CONFERENCE
Midlands Mission Center Fall Conference will be 10 am to 4 pm, Saturday October 21, at the Olathe congregation (15520 South Ridgeview Road). Childcare will be provided.
Guest ministry will be provided by Apostle Janne’ Grover, Seventy John Wight, and Field Support Specialist Barbara Borkowski.
High School youth will serve lunch around noon. Donations will benefit SPEC camperships. (Kids who work receive funds!)
In the morning we will share in the ordination of Sharon Diddle, Kyle Joyce, and Mikal Shed, as well as worship with Apostle Grover. After lunch and a prayer for peace, we will conduct the business meeting.
HMA HONDURAS NURSE PROGRAM PLEDGE
In the continuing effort to support our full-time nurse (Saira Giron) in providing healthcare to the villages in the area near La Buena Fe, Honduras, we are collecting pledges for 2018. It would be helpful to have pledge forms returned by December 1 so we can finalize planning for next year.
If you are willing and able to help, please complete your pledge (available at church) and return the form to Paul Bennetts at your earliest convenience. All pledges are fully tax-deductible as HMA is a 501(c)3 organization. No checks are needed at this time but donations can be made before December 31 if you want a receipt for 2017. Paul Bennetts will let you know when it is time to submit the payment for your pledge. Thanks again for your help with this very worthwhile project.
