MISSION ROAD CONGREGATION EVENTS AND PROJECTS
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR JULY 4TH CELEBRATION
There’s a signup sheet at church for those who can assist with the Mission Road Congregation’s July 4th Celebration (9 am to Noon on the 4th). Needed are cashiers, servers, face painters and other helpers to inflate balloons and other chores. The Celebration is open to the entire community and will include a free bouncy house, hotdogs for sale, face painting and more. Contact Ron Millard if you’re able to volunteer.
ELEVATOR CONSTRUCTION UPDATE
The elevator construction project is underway. Please be especially cautious during construction, as there may be construction materials and other hazards evident from time to time. You will also find extra vehicles in our parking lot because of our construction project as well as the construction of the new Prairie Village Fire Station. Please be mindful and welcoming of our visitors.
Because of the sewer line for the women’s restroom running through the area of the new elevator shaft, the women’s restroom is temporary closed. A sewage pump system to cure the problem has been ordered and installation should be completed prior to church services on July 1st.
ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL: THE STORY OF CHRISTIANITY
The Adult Sunday School Class is now studying “The Story of Christianity: The Early Church to the Dawn of the Reformation, Volume 1” by Justo Gonzalez.
Next Sunday we’ll cover Chapter 5 “First Conflicts with the State.” Paul Bennetts will lead the discussion.
If you received the class text, please remember to add $21 to your offering with a notation that it covers the “Adult Class Book.”
ADULT INFORMATION CLASS ABOUT THE COMMUNITY OF CHRIST
This new class continues each Sunday for adults interested in learning about church membership this class is informational, if class members want baptism or if class members simply want to know more about Community of Christ. Baptism is not necessarily an outcome of class attendance. The class will be held during the regular Sunday School hour (starting at 9:15 AM). Please join the class in the Chapel, taught by Karen Birkby and Ron Millard, if interested.

MISSED LAST SUNDAY’S SERVICE?
Would you like to hear the message from last Sunday or a Sunday service from 3 years ago? Audio recordings of many of the last several years’ worth of worship services are available online at https://goo.gl/wREl03. Note this is a new shortened URL that will take you to a Google Drive with many of the recordings from the past.
Recordings are located in folders corresponding to the year (2015, 2016, and so on). If you missed a Sunday, this provides you a way to hear the music and the message.
The beginning numbers of each filename indicate the date of the service.
The first 4 digits represent the year; the next two digits indicate the month and last two digits represent the day of the month.
In most cases, the date is followed by a dash and then the first initial and last name of the speaker. Enjoy!
NOTE: If you experience problems playing these audio files be sure you’re running the latest version of your browser or try a different browser. In some cases, you may be required to download the audio file before playing it.
The following list includes some recent audio recordings:
17 June 2018 message by Kirk Barnhard, filename 20180617-KBarnhard.mp3
16 June 2018 Youth Caravan Service, filename: 20180616-Youth.Caravan.mp3
10 June 2018 message by Steve Holben, filename 20180610-SHolben.mp3
3 June 2018 message by Ron Millard, filename 20180603-RMillard.mp3
CONCERNING PRAYER REQUESTS
Please know that any member of the congregation can post prayer requests or share information about members and events on the Mission Road Members Only Facebook page. You do not need to send the information for approval to anyone. In fact doing so may slow down the dissemination of your request. Be sure to include the person needing prayers and what situation has occurred (if you wish to share that information). If your post concerns an event or news item, be sure to include the basics in your posting (such as who, what, where and when).
For prayer requests, if you do not have access to Facebook, then please call Paul Bennetts our Congregational Pastoral Care Coordinator.
