This Sunday, May 11, 2014, the Adult Sunday School Class will continue a critical reading and discussion of the Book of Ether from the “Book of Mormon.” We’ll start with Ether 1:34. Some of the issues we’ll discuss are: the locale of “the choice land” mentioned in verse 35, the name of the Brother of Jared, the vessels used to travel across the seas, and the “Fall” of man. Tentatively we’ll view portions of the movie “Buck” (the inspiration for the movie The Horse Whisperer) and be prepared to discuss the movie as it relates to our heavenly Parent, reward and punishment.

Some of the issues we’ll discuss are: Was the Ether 1:20 prophesy regarding a “choice land” fulfilled? Was the prophesy for our time or Jared’s? We’ll also discuss God, the meaning of heaven and hell, reward and punishment, and whether/how God rewards and punishes nations. If you have a chance, the class was encouraged to view the movie “Buck” about the Horse Whisperer and be prepared to discuss the theme of the movie as it relates to a heavenly parent, reward and punishment.

ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS SCHEDULE
This Sunday, April 27, 2014, the Adult Sunday School Class will resume a critical reading and discussion of the Book of Ether from the “Book of Mormon.” We’ll start with Ether 1:8. The verse implies that the Brother of Jared was “highly favored” by God and that he was the one able to be the spokesman with God for his brother, Jared. Are only certain people eligible or permitted to speak to God?
